Home Selling Tips

908259_detailPerhaps you've heard of "staging" a home before trying to sell it. One of the keys to selling a home is to help potential buyers imagine themselves living in it. Sellers should clear away clutter and remove knickknacks accumulated over the years. Sellers also should remove personal photos and other objects.

"Curb appeal" also counts when selling a home. The yard should be neat and clutter-free, the bushes trim, and the façade repainted. If the mailbox is old and chipped, replace it with a new mailbox.

There is no end of advice when it comes to selling a home. Here are a few more, courtesy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

  • Paint the front door red or some other bright color to give a good first impression;
  • This should go without saying, but clean the house from top to bottom. Clean the inside and outside of appliances, large and small, and make sure curtains are fresh and window blinds sparkling;
  • Replace dim bulbs with bright new light bulbs. Go through every room in your home and replace bulbs to make sure rooms are bright and airy-looking for viewings.
